About Hoopla Business

Hoopla is an improv theatre and training school that applies improvisation techniques to workplace skills such as emotional intelligence, resilience, adaptability, communication and teamwork.

Programmes are built around the company's own Improv Compass framework and are tailored to a specific brief rather than sold as a fixed course, covering leadership development, graduate onboarding, sales storytelling, conferences and events, and employee engagement work.

Sessions use structured improv exercises as a low-stakes way to practise high-stakes interpersonal skills, rather than presenting comedy performance for its own sake. Hoopla describes itself as the UK's first improv theatre and school, with more than 20 years' experience delivering programmes for organisations including Google, Amazon, Unilever, KPMG, PwC, Salesforce and Fujitsu.

The company has also published a book on using improvisation principles in business, which was named a Financial Times business book of the year. Work is generally commissioned as a bespoke programme built around an organisation's specific challenge, whether that is a single event, a leadership intervention or an ongoing culture change programme, rather than an off-the-shelf package.
